Like any wild plant, be sure to research all the identification features of edible violets before consuming. These flowers tend to grow in shady areas in early spring and usually die off in hot summer temperatures. Violets are edible perennials that have five petals and heart-shaped leaves. Last week I noticed that the violets were in full bloom and I knew I had to create something with this bountiful edible flower. Now that it’s Spring, tiny buds have begun to sprout and a lot of flowers have been the first to emerge. Because once you do find something, the thrill can be addicting! There’s something very rewarding about hunting for something in the forest with no guarantees of finding anything.
